Even if u write a good job description, u can still get tripped up when u put the job in an advertisement, especially if u let someone to write the ad and it's not familiar with the legal guidelines.
Here are some words that u need to avoid to use in an ad:waiter, salesman, handyman, college student, married couple ...and here are the words that u can use: salesperson, wait staff, part-time worker, general repair person, two person job etc.
Not all advertising it's done with professional agencies. Many organization have their own advertising departments. This in-house agencies often will do everything until the actual purchase.
This comes very handy for some people. It is of great importance for people to know what to write/or not to write in a job advertisment.

Dear Elena,
ReplyDeleteI suppose this entry on your blog is the one you chose from what we did in class.
Why do you think the word waiter, for example, should be avoided in a job ad, if you are a waiter or if you are looking for a waiter's position?
I appreciate that you wrote about your hometown and I also appreciate the work you have done in collecting all the material.
