Târnăveni Municipality is located on the river Small Târnava at the foot hill of the same name, the Transylvanian Plateau, the heart of Transylvania and a little north of the geographical center of Romania.
Settlement is documentary attested since 1278, although they found traces of human habitation since Neolithic.
City and neighboring villages while belonging administratively Târnaveniului are:

* Găneşti and Cuştelnic to East settlement is the last quarter of Târnăveni
* Dambau in the West Village of community Adămuş
* Cucerdea and Bobohalma - second place was the village belonging to the North Târnăveni
* Botorca in the South was a district of municipality
* Other important settlemets belonging or belonged administrative Fortress Târnăveni are Cetatea de Balta, Mica, Băgaciu, Suplac, Bahnea.
